Discussion Questions
1. When I face temptation, what motivates me to reject or accept that temptation? Do I largely think in practical terms of what the consequences will be? Or do I consider how the Lord views things and make a decision based on the good things He loves and the wrong things He hates?
2. How can things like anger, bitterness, gossip, and false accusations lead to discord and division? Biblically, how should we respond to these things?
3. Read 1 Samuel 10:24-27. We should learn from the warnings of sins that God hates, but even when we strive to follow God faithfully, we can interact with people that fit the description of “worthless” and “wicked” (Proverbs 6:12). On the day Saul was proclaimed king, some “worthless” people rejected him and criticized him. But Saul “held his peace” and did not respond wrongly to them (vs. 27). In this situation, what do we learn from Saul’s humility? How should that example of humility affect the way we respond to this kind of people?
