Discussion Questions
1. Proverbs 24:1 warns us not to envy the wicked. In what situations can I be envious of those who do wrong and seem to prosper? What would I hope to gain by joining with them (find their success, avoid conflict with them, etc)? Instead of following them to seek these things, am I willing to trust God to care for me and meet my needs?
2. Why is it important to seek to turn from sin and do right simply because God calls us to live rightly (as opposed to only focusing on consequences)? In what areas of life can I face temptation where I don’t seem to see consequences for sin? Am I willing to do right simply because God says it is right?
3. Instead of envying those who have more than me and becoming bitter that I do not have what they have, how can I seek to rightly and Biblically help those who have less than me? How can this change of focus also help me to be thankful for what God has given me?
4. God has given humans a wonderful mind to think and invent. Sadly, many use this intellectual ability to design all sorts of evil. How can I use the intellect God has given me to serve Him and do good?
